Enhancing career and entrepreneurial prospects at Baku State University – Case study
Career development support
Strong industry partnerships
BSU's robust collaborations with industry leaders such as SOCAR, Pasha Bank, and BP Azerbaijan provide our students with invaluable practical experiences. Through internships, apprenticeships, and participation in career fairs, students engage directly with the industry. A prime example of these collaborations is the BSU-SOCAR Internship Programme, which offers hands-on energy-sector experience to more than 100 students each year. Many of these students are later offered full-time positions, underlining the programme's success.
Alumni network
Our alumni network is an integral part of the career support we offer. With initiatives like the BSU Mentorship Programme, students are paired with alumni who work in their field of study, receiving guidance and mentorship. Recent endeavours include virtual career talks by alumni employed at top organisations like Google, Deloitte, and AzerGold. These sessions provide students with insight into global industry trends and elucidate potential career pathways.
Fostering entrepreneurship
BSU also fosters a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship through initiatives like the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub and the StartUp Azerbaijan Initiative. Last year alone, over 50 student-led start-ups participated in our incubator programme, showcasing projects that ranged from eco-friendly packaging solutions to AI-powered educational platforms. Many of these ventures received seed funding and national awards, demonstrating our commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial skills and creativity among our students.
